Default When Does Mowing Season Begin??

Last year was my first season of mowing and I started in late May. I was wondering when every one starts their mowing season especially the guys in the Mid-West area. Also when does every one end their mowing to begin doing fall cleanups. Last year I think I stop mowing a little early.

Thanks in advance for any help or input.

If the weather holds, it should be an early start this year. If I have any luck we will start mowing in two more weeks

Spring work = anytime before May.

Mowing season = May.

Mowing season end = when the leaves become a burden, and make you work more for the same income avoid it!

Fall cleanups = When mowing season ends, and there are leaves to remove, usually two weeks after you stop mowing... a.k.a November-ish.

I'm in Pittsburgh, PA.

I just looked at my client sheets and it appears that 99% of my first cuts were the last week of April.

I also recall that last season started out with a TON of rain - it just wouldn't stop. Most of the lawns should have been cut at least 2-3 weeks prior (Mine was), but the rain prevented anyone from really getting started.

It appears that I stopped mowing most lawns around October 6th last season.

I mowed my own lawn for the last time the week after Thanksgiving. The stuff doesn't magically stop just because it's October, but most people don't want to keep paying for the service.

We should make a post where everyone takes a picture of themselves jumping into the air and posting it on the first day they mow every year.

It could become an annual event kinda like our own groundhog day

I couldn't agree more!

YES! I'm doing this for sure.

Then we take a picture of our last day...

Nw Iowa here. I start spring cleanup for people that want it after the ground has dried from snow melt. That is usually after March 20th on some lawns. April 1 I'm in full cleanup mode. Mowing starts about April15th or so. May June and July are my biggest months for mowing as most all lawns need weekly service. August can be dry and warm/hot so it's hard to justify a mowing when the grass goes dormant.Sept can to wetter and cooler but most lawns can go 10 days. After that its leaf pickup time.
Most of my clients just leave it up to my discretion as to when to mow. Then I have some that call. I have really never had a problem with this type of set up, and I always tell the clients that leave it up to me Just call if you need service.
