Here in VA. Recently acquired a toro g3 60 inch, stihl weed eaters and blowers. Acquired insurance, flyers, and business cards after reading a couple of the books. Just waiting on some customers and warm weather now.

i took out an ad in a local paper. I talked to a few apartment complex managers today. The problem i had today was i did some research online about local apartments and made a list of who i wanted to visit to drop my business card and put a face with a name. But the address they had on the internet was not correct. The internet made it seem as though they had an office on site but when i got there no office. so all i got was to make a phone call.

How are you finding the process of signing up apartment complexes to be vs signing up residential customers?

to be honest i have no new customers since formally going into business commercial or residential. I do find that it has been hard to get a shot being a single man operation. Everybody i have talked thus far has a Guy that they use.

I work by myself and hire when needed. Fined out what those guys aren't doing and offer it in a package deal. Or help the customer see where the flaws are what there there current guy is not doing. Where I live alot of people are just fly by night and don't last that long. Once you get that first customer and they see the work you do the work will start coming your way.

no i don't tell i'm a one man crew. i already have some help lined up when needed. I think i may of caught a break. i found and guy that only does landscaping and met with him. gave him some flyers and cards. When they ask how long i have been mowing grass? i tell them i have been mowing grass since 16years old for money. The sad part is i had more accounts then, than i have now.

I wouldn't let that get you down. It's just a short matter of time and you will have accounts again.

I also don't think people are going to look negatively at a solo lawn care business owner. You don't need a crew or any big equipment to get the job done and anyone who has a lawn of their own knows this.

So just keep at it. The first lawn care customer is the hardest to get and the rest will come easier because you will feel more confident the more you get.

Not down! just thought it would be a little easier. But i got an ad in a local paper. I seen the examples of craiglist ads. Are those paid ads or free?
