I have a yard that I mow for $20.00 due that the lady is on fixed income and is too old, no family to do it for her. I also have two yards across the stree that I get $50.00 for so with the small yard I see nothing wrong at all with $20.00.

I also cut a large property for FREE because it is a non profit business for baddered women. I find that God has blessed my business because it has been more to do with Him than making money.

Call me stupid but that's is just the way I see it.

I am a one man show.

Sure, that is going to play into things. There are all sorts of factors at play - equipment used, the terrain that you're cutting, the "wealth" of the area you service, and more.

For me, there's no way to set a "minimum" that could be applied to everyone. Some people may be able to do so because most of their lawns are of similar size and in a similar area, but I service properties in the city as well as the suburbs, and they also vary in that some of them are wealthy and some not so much.

I also don't have a $10,000 ZTR, a $1,200 push mower and a crew of three.
If I did, I wouldn't be bothered with a lawn the size of a postage stamp - I could take on the larger properties and charge appropriate fees for such service.

You mentioned "profitable" - that's the bottom line. You will need to find what that is for you.

For me it's $10-15 but that only for trailer lot. They only take about 10 minutes to do and you can get them all in a group. House it's $30+

i can not see doing anything for anyone for 15.00 regardless of how small it is.

there is a minimum every business has to charge and operating costs are higher then that.
by itself you still have to drive there, unload, do the job and load back up and leave and even if it is a few hundred square feet you still are gonna average 30 to 45 minutes.

in the end you are in business to make money and they are in the market for conveinence, and with conveinence there comes a price.
you can be expected to work for free and they save money and the trouble of doing it temselves.

that is a win win for them and seems you are cutting yourself short and working for the privledge to cut their lawn.

I charge $15 for townhomes I have about 60 of them in about a 5mile area area. I do about 3-10 with out moving my truck. This year I am going for about 100-150 townhome $1500-$2250 not bad a week 4-5 days a week just mowing. Not including my other single families homes and landscaping jobs. Beat 40hrs a week at $20per hour. each townhouse is no longer than 15mins with a 2man crew.

hey more power to you, just seems like a lot a bills to send out and collect every month for that little money.
but in the end your making money and your happy so that is all that matters i guess, and depending on where you are at you got to go with what the market will bare.

60 at 15 each comes to 900 dollars a week, for a 2 man crew. That is 450 each not deducting any expenses. WOW,
man, you are getting rich.

I suppose it depends on how much cleavage the homeowner is willing to show. The price can go right down to zero.

There's something I hadn't considered... "billing".

In my case, I don't have to factor that into my time, as I get paid on the spot. If I did have to spend time (and money for envelopes/stamps) sending bills, that $15 would be a bit less appealing.

That's what I was getting at earlier in that there are so many variables between each person that there is no "one" answer that is right for everyone.
