can you make the phone # a little bigger b-cards can be hard to read for some people. After watching some of my customers try to read my first cards I changed the # to where template said the company name should go much easier to read each # (most people read words as a whole but you need to read each #)
hope that helps

Default revision/work in progress

A revision of my business card, email address, and website. I ordered a batch of these so I can get started. Better?

I like that a lot. For the back of your card, if you offered other services, you could list them and then maybe have a check box that says something like, we recommend the following additional services for your property, or something like that.

Very nice work!

Thanks Steve! The revised cards are still on order, and I look forward to getting them out there to my targeted properties.

This evening, I gave a couple of the cards I do have to the local Fire Marshal and Fire Chief at a city hall meeting where weed abatement was on the agenda. It was a very simple exchange. During a break, I went over, shook their hands, told them I'm starting up a service helping prevent fire hazard by cutting brush and weeds. The chief thanked me. I don't expect them to endorse or sell my service for me, but I'm glad I did it. It built up my courage, and potentially opened more doors of possibility than there would be if I didn't.

Did you check with your town hall to see if you could be put on the list of contractors to be called when the city fines a homeowner for letting their lawn grow too high or for other weed abatement issues?

They may or may not have such a list but some do, so it would be worthwhile to ask around.

Will, Yes, they passed a resolution at the meeting last night to add the cost of the weed abatement to the property owner's property tax as a lien. I looked up the rates the county charges. For what I do, what they call "hand work" with a line trimmer/brush cutter, the county charges $113.83 per hour per person. I think most property owners are aware, but if they're not, I've got a printout of the rates in my binder. Rates for tractor/discing are in the $300-$500+ per hour range. I think they know those rates are high, and they don't want it on their property taxes, but the competition is still with other service providers like myself, rather than the county.

Steve, I got myself on the list of service providers for the county, but there isn't really one for individual cities. I've joined the Chamber of Commerce in one nearby city to see how it goes. Other than that, I'm chomping at the bit waiting for my updated business cards to come in, so I can visit a taregt list I've printed out of properties who've received the notices from the county/city. :::chomp chomp:::
