That is just thing, I dont know the square foot. I just know by the look of it compare to other lawn work I did.
You should measure all your new properties. If you have no way of measuring it, maybe use google maps or pace it out. Then figure how long each of your paces is.

Quote:
Just lawn only 54.666 ft X 120ft. With push mower is what I have take me about 40 minutes. no around house but two large maple trees. That is all. Then there is one on the other side of the house take me good hour 102.675 ft X 120 ft. Then behind the house there is piece of lawn that is 30.250 ft X 80ft take me good 20 to 25 minutes to push mow with front wheel drive.

55 X 120 = 6600 sq ft takes 40 minutes.

103 x 120 = 12360 sq ft takes 60 minutes.

31 x 80 = 2480 sq ft takes 25 minutes.

Total Sq Footage = 21440 and total time = 125 minutes or about 2 hours.

So from that you can figure you are mowing.

21440 sq ft per 2 hrs or (21440/2) = 10,720 sq ft per hr

You said you are charging $13.75 per hour.

From this you can figure out how much you are charging per sq ft.

($13.75 / 10,720sq ft ) = $.001282 per sq ft

So then you can say

(new property sq ft x $.001282 per sq ft) = how much you should charge.

Now moving beyond this, I think you are charging way to low and not including any of your expenses in your calculations which is why you should use the forum calculators. On average we see members charging around $45 per hour or so for lawn care. You don't actually tell the customer your hourly rate, but you would use it to figure out how much you should be charging to service the property.

Is this helping you?

Thanks, Steve,

I think I am getting the general idea. Somewhat, what would be the best to charge? I notices on calculator show .08 to .18.

This is what I use to measure. Think I paid about $50 for it but I have seen similar ones from $30 to $100. Just another little trick to set you apart from the other guys.

If you want to do it right and be accurate, you should know your costs of operation. How much it costs you per hour to operate your business. You also need to take into consideration what the local competition is charging and price yourself somewhere within the competitive range.

Early on, as you are getting your feet wet and have little costs, you can experiment with your prices. Possibly charge each new customer a little more and a little more until you get to a point where they are hesitant or resistant to your price and you need to lower it a little to seal the deal.

Keep us posted on what you decide to do.
