Sod Job!

I have done quite a few sod jobs ,enough to warrant my purchasing my own sod cutter ,and have never used a tiller for them .I find the cutter is very efficient ,leaving the ground beneath fairly level and easy to work with .I guess that depending on what plans you have for whats underneath ,a tiller could come in handy ,but I havent required one yet .I cut it in strips ,then cut across the lawn to make the strips easily handled ,then just toss them in the trailer for disposal ,no rolling required .I have even gone back and broke up the ground with the cutter ,its quick and easy to do .

Do you recommend doing any ground prep work after you have remove the old sod in preparation for the new?
