That is very nice of you to offer that! As you make some lawn care logos, you should post the different ones you made. It would be great to see and motivate others to upgrade their marketing image.

I noticed on your door hanger, you used the headline of College Student Owner.

Now from time to time we talk about doing things like this and I'd like to know what was your view on adding that? For all those considering this option, how do you feel it helped? Also have you gotten any feedback yet from using that? Do you use it in other marketing methods as well?

I was debating for a few days whether I wanted it or not and finally decided to add it in. I chose to add "College Student Owner" because living in the Bellevue area almost everyone you talk to supports the University of Washington and regularly goes to the football and basketball games. Working at Overlake Golf and Country Club in Medina (right next to Bill Gate's house) I have always been asked school related questions and many of the members were intrigued that I was a college student and worked 40 hours a week all at once. I guess they saw my ambition.

I've never tried it with college student owner but I wanted it also because marketing in the past has been poor. I want to change it up a bit. I only bought 1,000 door hangers and when I'm done passing those out I plan on getting 1,000 more so if it didn't work I will take off college student owner.

It was a gamble but mainly a test to see how consumers will react to it. I will keep you updated on the feedback I recieve.

Also, what are your views on having "College Student Owner" for marketing?

I also market door to door knocking on the door and trying to start up a conversation. I first introduce myself and then I tell them what in their yard can be improved or needs help. Like... their is a pile of bark in your driveway I can spread that at a very low price or the lawn looks overgrown let me mow that for you. Being apart of this form I have heard of other memebers doing this as well.

I also have flyers that I post at grocery stores and pass out as well as business cards. My mom is very well connected with the fashion industry and hair an makeup so I have her pass out my business cards to her friends and the owners of hair and makeup companies. That has seemed to help the most as her friends are very fond of me. Actually just last week I got a call from Julie Hale Krale who is a realtor for Windermere. She asked me to do some jobs for her and I was overly excited. That was one of the best contacts I have had in a while and it was from the owner of a hair salon. She actually let me put my sign in the yard so when she tried to sell the house her clients will see that it was my company that did all the maintenance.

Anyways. lets get some opinions going how having a college student owner for marketing. Also give David Lopez from DCL Graphics a call and atleast try out his service.

I like that you are experimenting with your marketing and I think you should use any angle you can to stand out. Anything that makes you different should be something to promote.

I bet a lot of people like the idea of someone working their way through college and find it to be commendable. With that consumer feeling, I would figure it would give you an edge.

Don't just distribute out 1,000 to 1,000 people. You will improve your return if you hit a smaller group multiple times.
