Have you ever thought about getting into the insurance business? Here is the story of one lco who did just that.
Mount Airy’s been good to Emerson, his business - After finishing college at Towson University, Emerson, a native of Damascus and graduate of Damascus High School, started his own lawn-mowing and -fertilizer business. He said he later sold the company “for a profit,“ then became an insurance professional.
Q: Why did you get out of the lawn business and go into insurance?
A: I always had an interest in the insurance business. And it [the lawn business] got to the level where I could sell it and make a dollar ... plus there were a few variables I didn't care for — weather, labor force, equipment always breaking. I decided I'm going to get into something where if nobody shows up for work I can do my job rain or shine.
