Default Starting My Lawn Care Business

Hello

I'm just starting the business, literally from the ground up. I have no equipment. I have had others do my lawn service and the reason why I'm starting a lawn care business is here.

I'm spending the winter to get the equipment and knowledge about lawn care. I will be doing the GopherHaul Lawn Care Business School and recording my score, how I can apply the lessons to build my business and what I am finding using my own lawn as the field test area. It is 1 acre.

Default Lesson 1 take

Lawn care business tips
I just finished lesson 1 and passed. Grade:1%

I do agree in keeping start up cost low and will be only purchasing equipment when needed.

My reason for purchasing new is:
New is less likely to brake down
New has a longer warranty then used

Any advise is greatly appreciated

Default Lesson: Going legit

I just finished lesson Going Legit. Grade:3%

I have a C-corp that has been dormant and will setup the business with it.

My reason for registering as a C Corp business:
I wont to protect my personal assets.

Any advise is greatly appreciated

Default Choosing the right business name

Current Grade:4%

The name should reflect what I do.

Just starting out, I will be mowing and trimming.

So some names:
Jack’s Lawns Care
Jack’s Cut & Trim Lawn Care
Jack”s Cut & Trim Lawn Service
Cut & Trim Lawn Care
Cut & Trim Lawn Service
Cut & Trim Them Lawns

Right now I’m leaning towards:
Cut & Trim Them Lawns

Sort of has a ring to it

Any advise is greatly appreciated

Sure. If you want to sound like an uneducated hick.
Sorry, but that's the "ring" it has when I hear it.

Pretty amazing progress, btw. Will you have a several dump trucks and a crew of twenty by the end of today?

Try not to go too deep to fast, you will find plenty you need to buy to get started and you will also find your first few years are not that profitable in any business.

Thanks for the responses.

Yea your right. The names are kind of lame. I came to reason later on. Ha have to start with the names somewhere.

wandfsmall
All the equipment is paid for. No financing.

As the information from the link, if followed, states, i have to purchase equipment anyway for my own lawn care needs, i have none.

Hey, your business name is a tough thing to figure out. I had all sorts of stupid crap on my list that after looking at again I wondered what I was thinking. LOL

Don't limit yourself by choosing a name that may not apply as you grow.
If you start out as "Bob's Mowing" and later expand into landscaping services, your potential clients will think that all you do is mow lawns.

Then there's the task of finding a name that isn't already registered. Big fun.

Good luck with it. If you've got the money to buy equipment right off the bat, you're off to a good start. Do good work and you will be just fine.
