Ok i did my first landscaping it was for my aunt and she wanted me to use dirt to level the ground what is the best thing to use to level out the ground before laying patio blocks ?

Take a long 2x4 with 2 guys or gals, lay it flat on the ground and start working it back and forth as you steadily push it forward while on the ground. First take and iron rake and level the obvious low or high spots.

but should i use sand ? i heard i shoudnt use sand to level it there is suppose to be some kind of gravel i can use for that

I use crusher dust,a fine beach sand would probably be fine as well

I usually order crush and run stone, after it's packed I top with regular sand. They also sell similar products by the bag I believe you could get at most box stores.
