Default Ren-o-Thin by Ryan

I have a chance to buy a Ren-o-thin for $250.00
I looked on the net and all I found was a used one for $575.00 that was in mint condition and a new one that was $975.00
The one I'm looking at is rather beat up and abused but it dose run and work rather well.
I am posting some picture of the machine
What would you offer for it.

Graham

Lawn care business tips
If you could use it and it works, I'd pick it up. If you want to haggle a bit, why not start with $150

Keep us posted on how this goes!

I say buy it ,if its running and usable now it shouldnt take long before its paid for ,then rebuild it when your not using it .Make sure your not going to screw up anything too badly first though .

Figure out how much it would cost to tune up before anything.

Ask the seller to get a quote from a dealer and present it to you.

Not sure what I would bid until I know the damage :P

The rebuild is not a problem, I have rebuilt these things before and Ryan equipment is basically bullet proof.
I went back to him with a price and am awaiting his reply.
I will keep you all posted.

Thumbs up Got my Ren-o-Thinner

Well I went and got the Ren-o-Thin Yesterday.
Its in a lot better shape then I expected.
I changed the Oil ( Sludge ) and changed the Plug and Air Filter.
One pull and away it went, It runs real nice, I tinkered with the carb and
now it runs real smooth and smoke free.
I do need to get new bearings for the wheels and a new Muffler but that's it.
It also came with a spare Thatcher axle and extra Blades.
All in all I think I got a good deal at $225.00.
I will get some Picture later when the Sun comes out

Well I used it today on my own lawn.
I mowed the lawn first as it really did need it (first Mow of the season)
I was a little nervous or over doing it so I made my first pass with it set pretty high. I got some thatch out but not much. I then lowered it an inch and went again, then one more inch and was getting good results. I then went over it with the mower set at the highest setting to suck up the debris.
I don't think I will hand rake again what a great way to do big lawns.
You can see that I have raked the lawn but it dose not look like I just beat
the S#!T out of my lawn like I see so many people do with these machines.
I would have taken some Pictures but it was getting fairly dark when I was done. Next lawn I do I will take some before and after Pictures

if the oil was that bad ,run it untill its good and hot, then drain it again ,do it a few times ,you dont want any old crud causing issues down the road .
