Personal opinion - not professional.

I saw a kid last season talking on a cell phone - hand to ear - the whole time he was mowing a lawn. I have no idea how he could even hold a conversation like that.
If I was his boss, I would have canned him on the spot.

I personally do not allow it for a host of reasons including client perception and prospects walking or driving by.

I generally think it looks bad,but a set of big honking safety earmuffs with a radio in it wouldnt be so bad .

I usually wear ear buds. Sometimes I wear headphones but normally ear buds. I don't see how it looks unprofessional. I would rather hear music then the loud engine.

I do the same. I wear ear buds and then I put the big red ear muffs over them so I can hear the music over the machines.

I do the same thing. for the first 2 years i never did. i did for the first time 2 days ago and it made the work i was doing a little more enjoyable - clearing blackberry bushes- but i was wondering how professional it looks.
Or how safe is it when you are mowing? You have to be able to hear - even over the mowers -people around you right?

What about those ear protection devices that can act as headphones to listen to things?

I always wear the headphones with a radio and it also has a mic that pics up voices so I can hear people even with them on. I think safe is professional.
