Default Employee training

I've have just hired my first full time employee and have been thinking about training. I checked out the school here again, its been a few years since i did it, but i didn't really find much that i thought an employee could use.

Other than onsite job training, is anyone using videos or web info? Suggestions would be great. Thanks.

p.s. Maybe this could be something that could be expanded to the lawn business schooling we have here.

Lawn care business tipsLawn Care Business Book
What kinds of topics would you like to see covered?

Also, there is a lawn care employee manual on this page.

Let me know if that helps.

well for most mowers they offer safety videos to their dealers, ask your dealer for one. I also have safety videos for Echo for 2cycles so you might try to get a hold of one of those. As to how to cut grass I am not sure I have ever seen one but it is an interesting idea of something to make.

Some of what i was looking for was common sense things, such as general safety, dealing with customers (eg. Could you do this small job for me?), common employee etiquette, appearance, etc. Other things I think would be helpful would be things like benefits of doing a great job, basics of machinery operating, reasons for accurate employee reporting (eg. machinery times and yard times) I'm sure there could be many others, these are just a few of what i was searching for.

I would love to have something that I can get an employee to study and achieve a certificate of completion on. It would be something I can also use when chatting with clients, reassuring them employees have been trained and not just thrown out there. It would be another thing that makes me stand out as a business!

As you go through it, I think it covers a lot of issues you were looking for, however you may need to edit it a bit. If you find you are able to make something that would be more useful for the smaller lawn care businesses, let us know what you create.
