Can someone help me figure the lot size? Its to big to measure in person. I went there today and was kinda stunned on the size. I'm going to have to buy another ZTR to do this if I get the bid. Should I lower my per acre price since its all in one place or keep it close to normal since I need extra equipment? The city government or the county government that it is in should have an assessor's website that you can search that would be able to give you the information that you need.

I will be right over with my tape measure [after I get my passport of course]! seriously,go to harbour freight and get a measuring wheel ,it makes measuring out a large lot or any lot really very easy .

I have a measuring wheel. This property is about 20-30 acres. I know some people pull the info from online. I talked to someone on here who does his quotes over the phone by looking up lot size. I just used a not so accurate method to get 23-26 acres.

shadrach: I cant find a town website listed, it may be under the jurisdiction of another. I know this town shares a police department with another but its not on the other towns site.

Can anyone help me with my other questions. Do I lower my per acre charge? To account for a single location. The property manager mentioned a previous invoice for $1700 but didnt know if that was one cut, bi weekly or weekly.

I never bid a property this large. I have a 54" ztr and a "40 walk behind. I believe it would take more then 10 hours to cut with both of these. Should I figure in the cost of another in the bid? or give a discount since its all in one place? There is also a bunch of trimming involved.

If it is going to take you 10 hours of mowing, you have to keep in mind your estimated time could be off. Usually when bids are off, they are off because they didn't take enough time into consideration so I would think your estimate maybe even on the low side. If that is the case, I would charge them for at least 10 hours of work.

(20 acres x 43, 560 sq ft per acre) = 871,200 sq ft of mowing

With a 60 inch mower, I used the lawn care business calculator and figured it would take just about 6 hours.

So then you can figure it would take 3 hours for every 10 acres of property.

If the property is 30 acres, it would take roughly 9 hours and that is not taking into account refueling. Which could push the job closer to 10 hours.

So if they are saying they paid $1700 and that was divided by 4 to get a weekly price, it would come out to $425 or $42.5 per hour for a 10 hour job.

I found the town the property was listed in. I used the measuring tool to get between 21-23 acres.

I couldn't get the estimator to use that large of a figure. I times it by ten to reach a educated guess. I didnt know what to put for per ft. I tried 8 ft sec. Which might not be possible in most spots. The property manager did say it takes her maintenance men 3 days to mow it with a rider.

The degree of difficulty could add a lot of time to the estimate. The camping lots consist of a utility pole, fire pit, driveway for campers. During season there will also be cars and occupied lots. Not to mention kids. This is a lot of turning not many straight aways.

I think $425 might be low and they want it biweekly now. I'm still at 10-15 hours with 2-3 guys. In a situation like this I rather over bid then be stuck in a contract losing money.

no blowing but lots of trimming. Every camp site has a fire pitt, utility pole, driveway and there's maybe 80 of them. Then there's the pool area and 500 ft along the fence.
