wordpress website design, anyone?

Ok, I know there are a few folks on here that do website design and am wondering if anyone has any idea how to make a wordpress website look like a website rather than a blog. Any ideas? Here is my current look. It is something I am playing with to see what I want to do before I design the real one at the regular domain.

Lawn care business tips

In an editor like MS Expressions and first page. There are many out there, it will allow you to type and place pics in a Wysiwyg (What You See Is What You Get) screen and do the hard code HTML in a screen just above or below it. It's really easy and you can get good results. I hard code HTML but like seeing what I write so I use MS Expressions. See if you like the results at my site. http://www.afpettijohns.com P.S. Yep that one is pretty easy. You are using the twenty-ten theme.

first you need to have a page created that you want to show on the front page.

Then you go to settings -> reading

you will see "front page displays" and click the radio button for a static page and then right below that is a dropdown for front page and select the page you created for the home page.

You may have to go into the menus section under appearance and create a custom menu so that the page does not appear in the navigation menu bar under the header image.

300 dpi is way too much for web sites. I causes them to load too slow.

Do you all think the background is too bright now? Check it here.

Also, I am looking for a good adsense plug in that will allow me to control what ads I have and how many. Any ideas or suggestions?

Agreed. "dpi" is "dots per inch" and refers to printers anyways doesn't it? PPI or pixels per inch is what you look at for web images and, what would you say doc, 72 ppi is plenty?

I use this plugin for adsense: WP Simple Adsense Insertion

I just did mine over to look like an actual web-site with a blog, you can check it out here.
They also have a plugin that you can use to work on your blog and only you can see it until your happy with what you want called "Theme Test Drive", not a pro but willing to help.
