What kind of truck do i buy?

What kind of truck do I buy 2500 or do I buy a 1500 what are the pros and cons? Just starting out, I have been in the biz for over 10 years. Every were I worked they had 2500 but when ever it was time to due work on them they were costly. I always bought 1500 because they are cheeper to work on and parts are cheep. All I'm doing is lawns and maintenance no landscape I will have a enclosed trailer 7' x 14' tandem axel with power brakes. Still thinking about plowing don't know.

Why not go with what you can afford now, and then scale up later as you need to?

Steve is right, don't overextend yourself when starting out, but if you cann swing it, the 2500 is the way to roll. We have 2, an 02 with 110,000 surprise free miles and an 01 that has seen better days due to employee abuse. But these trucks have been rode hard and put away wet and they just smile and keep coming back for more.

I would say 2500 esp if you are thinking about plowing. It will save the expense of a second truck or the selling of a 1500 to find a 2500. I started with a 350 which I am glad that I did it came with a plow and salter. I ended up putting in a dump insert in it and it saves me alot with mulch and leaf collection! I always buy quality equipment because it lasts longer and if anything happens has a good resale value. That's my 2 cents but if money is a huge issue start small and expand. The 1500's you might have to worry about being stopped and weighed with the trailer I don't know what the GVW is. My neighbor has a business too. Monkey see monkey do thing and he got a lot of fines for pulling his trailer with a dakota and being over weight something to think about.
