Default Anyone do work for Professional Grounds Services

Got a call today from Professional Grounds Services to do a bid on a Red Roof Inn in our town. They want every thing from mowing trimming to fertilization, flowers, spring & fall cleanup, irrigation start up and winterization and mulch Installation. Anyone have any experience working with this company? They are from Michigan. Also, what ball park should I be looking to be in from a price stand point?

Details:
  1. 26 Cuts to include all trimming & blowing
  2. Upto not to exceed $500 for Flowers & Installation
  3. Spring & Fall Cleanup
  4. Edging along all parking lot curbing (2680 ft appox) and mulch beds (there appears to be 3 beds, 2 at the street (both 20ft x 10 ft) and one around front door area.(20 ft x 10 ft)
  5. Hedge Trimming, there appears to be 30 - 35 small to med size bushes.

Its hard to bid becuase there is currently 2 ft of snow all over the property not to mention the snow piles from plowing. All I have is the imagery from google maps and bing maps to go by.

What I have figured so far:
  1. Mowing & Trimming = 2 hours x $50 = $100 x 26 cuts = $2600
  2. Bed prep before Mulch Installation (Edge Beds & Weed removal) = $225.00
  3. Mulch Installation = 600 sq ft = 4 cu yds mulch (spread 2" deep) @ 2 hrs install = $450
  4. Hedge Trimming 2 times = $180 x 2 = $360.00
  5. Irrigation Start in Spring and Winterization in the Fall = $180 x 2 = $360
  6. Perrenial Maintenance = $180 for the season
  7. Bed Weeding = $60 x 6 occurances = $360.00
  8. Spring Cleanup = $275.00
  9. Flower Planting = $400.00
  10. Leaf & Debris Removal (each cut = 26 cuts) = $300.00

Total so far for season = $5510.00

Fertilization program to include:
  • Fertilization
  • Weed Control
  • Insect Control
  • Tree & Shrub Fertility
  • Insect & Decease Control

Dimensions: 32300 sq feet to be fertilized.

I'll need to sub this out as I do not have licensing to do fertilization etc. Any idea on a price range I can expect? And am I in line for pricing the other stuff?

Thanks in advance!

Can you take an overhead screen shot of the property from one of the map sites so we can see it?

Could you call up a few places in your area and see if they can give you a price with that sq ft?

Also, if it may take you 90 days to get paid, are you comfortable with sub-contracting out the fert work when you may have to pay them at the end of the month and then still wait up to 90 days after to get your money?

What will you be mowing this with in order to mow it and trim it within 2 hours?

Here is a link to an overhead shot.

http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF-8&hl=en&tab=wl

I tried to attach a jpg pic on my 1st post but I guess it did not load.

The two red topped bldgs are the hotel in question. The area on each side of the driveway entrance and the far side along the major expressway (bottom of screen) I am not sure how far it needs to be serviced as yet. So using google earth I did the measurments best as I could. My measurments may be off as doing a drive around the property it just does not seem like it is that big. Won't know for sure till the snow is gone, I really don't want to short change myself. I have a 42" rider but want to upgrade this year. To me it seems like 2 hours should be enough time to do the mowing and trimming with a helper. Also, yes I know it will take a bit to get paid, but hopefully that wont be an issue.

That link didn't bring it to the location. When you want to paste the link to the map, you need to look above the map image and click on "Link" its to the right of Print and Send. Then you can paste the embed link here.

Yea that worked out well. Is there a fence between the hotel and the highway? I would figure a lot of that would be maintained by the state? Which should cut back on your mowing time.

It really doesn't seem like there will be too much too mow. But as you said, it is difficult to judge when snow is covering everything.

Did you get any bids on the fertilization services?

Im still waiting on the bid for the fertilization. Hopefully I will hear something on Monday. I am thinking that where the green stops in that photo by the thruway is where I will stop mowing, so it looks like 1/3 of the area there.
