Default sprinklers

i went and mowed a new yard yesterday that i picked up last month. I mowed the yard and check the sprinklers and turned the clock on and was getting them ready for the spring. When i turned the back on, in one corner there was 4 sprinklers in less then a 10 foot area 2 grear driven and 2 popup sprinklers the home is a newer home like 3 years old it was a model home that the builder sold I just dont get why there is 4 sprinklers the yard get soggy. so i am thinking removing some sprinklers to help fix the problem. the home sold for 560,000 2 years ago. the development was to have 96 lots and they have still 86 lots left to sell and the bank forclosed on the entire development last month the and hired me to clean up the water treatment plant, they dont have a sewer system in the area so they have their own water treatment plant. here is some pics of sprinklers should i remove the popups or the gear driven?

The homeowner may have thought that when he had his landscape bricks put down the grass area that looks like a "W" wouldn’t get any water on it, hence the pop-ups to get complete coverage.

Without seeing the whole yard (maybe a pic from behind the sprinklers from the stone area with the system running would do to see what the coverage is) I would move the rotating heads to the pop up heads spot, cap where the rotate heads are for future use if needed. Take the rotate spkr. on the left of the pic and make that your 90* zone, take the other rotate head and make that for the other zone. Have them over-spray each other by 3 ft. for coverage. This should stop the excess water building up in that area. The left head will overspray to cover that small piece of grass. If water still collects in that spot, then it may run off that way.

I hope this helps as it is hard to explain without giving you a diagram or helping you in person.

John
