So apparently I went through a stop sign.
To be honest, I'm almost certain I didn't - but I wont argue, maybe I didn't see it. Most stop signs aren't visible around here anyway.
The police are just trying to fill their quota.....................
How they did it:
They turned off all of their lights, ALL of them. As soon as they got behind me is when they turned them all back on and blared the sirens.... Why? Is sneaking up on me 5 ft against my hitch seriously going to make a difference compared to trying to pull me over from a 20 ft distance? Is turning off all of their lights following my truck for a block even legal for them to do?
Anyway, I thought it was cool. Like ninja cops.
/////////////////////////////////////
So instead of pulling to the side of the road, I took the cop for a tour into a parking lot up ahead. Next thing I know he's shining his flashlight in my window and tapping on the glass AS I AM LOWERING MY WINDOW, which he could clearly tell.
So I owe $150.00 for going through a stop sign on a street that doesn't exist. I know the area better than the cop, and I had him correct himself as the street was called "Baffin" and he insisted that it was "Dauphin"
(a street on the other side of town)
So that made me feel better. They left around a building (trying to be sneaky again).......... I assumed they would follow me from a distance for a bit, to see if I would mess up.
two seconds later, sirens blaring cop is right behind me.... I park... I get out of the truck and realize he's pulling over a car which is right actually behind me lol.... Talk about annoyances.
Anyway, on the way back home (same street) I see a line of of cars pulled over......
We all couldn't have gone through the same stop sign, and none of us could really "speed" on that street as there are massive speed bumps at every stop, you wouldn't get very far speeding without stopping in the next millisecond. Weird.
I wish I had my GPS with me, because that thing clocks my speed and I could have reviewed it.
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Anyway, cops are just doing their job - I'm sure I'd be a pretty big prick too if I was in his place.
Anyone else have stories to tell which are similar???

The one and only ticket I've gotten in about 25 years of driving came about because I sped up to pass a line of cars in an effort to allow the guy riding my a$$ to get by me. Unfortunately, as I pulled back over into the right lane of the highway, Mr. Ridesmyass followed, and that's when the headlights began to flash - back and forth. At first I wondered why this guy was "flashing" his lights at me, but then I realized the headlights were "alternating", and that it was an unmarked, state police vehicle.
Crap.
He asked why I was going so fast. I was doing 60 in a 55 until he got on my ***, then I took it to 75 to "get out of his way". I told him this, got the brief lecture, and was handed my ticket.

I beat one with my Jetta, speeding on the highway in March of last year, said I was doing 136km/hr in a 110, I pulled up the history on my GPS (Garmin) and showed him the car computer is set to winter driving mode which prevents the car from exceeding 115 km/hr. He didn't go for it and wrote a $326.00 ticket.
What I didn't bother explaining was the vehicle is tracked (live monitoring by a former company I own) all my equipment is. When I got home I called the monitoring station, gave time, for 22 min prior to the incident and 46 min after, the car ranged from 90 to 112 km/hr, got a letter, went to court, no ticket or fine.

you blew it ! if you didnt correct him,you could of got off on a technicality ,and maybey everybody else that day as well .You could of brought a map to court, asked the cop to pinpoint where you were pulled over, then shown the addy on the ticket was completely wrong .

Scott,
You could always go the crazy route. Keep an alka seltzer with you and when you get stopped, pop it into your mouth, jump out of your truck and strip off your clothes to your underwear. Then drop down to the ground and start to seize.
LOL after a minute or so of doing this, you can miraculously awaken and thank the officer profusely for saving your life.
Make your face look something like this as you are doing it.

Great idea. Except in reality that would likely earn you a ride to the local mental institution rather than a citation. Trust me.
To all of you out there, I gotta ask a question from you haters. When you go to work and get "good" at what you do, you think you have done great. I agree. When a cop goes to work and masters his/her job, they are jerks?
You have outdone your competition by mastering your mower (no more scalping, spinning tires, etc), understanding the grass types/soil problems in your area, and have improved your people skills to better persuade potential customers to use your services. This includes ways to word your sales pitch, how to dress, what equipment to take with you on the estimate or whatever you have determined helps you. I think this is awesome.
Now, on the other hand, if a cop determines a problem area in his/her assigned work area, and proceed to correct that problem with proactive enforcement, they are jerks, out to get you, and/or just plain mean. Granted, just like there are LCO jerks, there are uniformed jerks in patrol vehicles (who, by the way, are willing to take a bullet for YOU!). And just like every other human being, cops happen to have a bad day here and there, are subject to having an "off day" and are subject to be mistaken at times. I think many times the general public expects cops to be 100% perfect, 100% of the time. But then again, why shouldn't they be, they put on a uniform daily knowing that today may be the day they will be shot in the line of duty while they protect their accusers.
(stepping off my soap box now)
With that being said, I sincerely apologize to each and everyone of you who have been the target of illegal enforcement actions and/or otherwise the victim of inappropriate/unethical/illegal behavior from a law enforcement officer. I gotta ask though, how many of you have walked in their shoes? I could tell you stories that would make most people's teeth curl...... Here is an ofter misquoted (and incorrectly attributed) quote: "People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."
Ok, back off my soap box........................

Pros & Cons of Police in my town
They all have that crazy look in their eye, as if they are hoping to have a chance to use the which they store in their trunks.
I cannot blame the police for anything really.
I do hate how we have so many police spending their time giving vehicle tickets, though in a perfect world, I wouldn't have it any other way?! I would just be a lot more appreciative if they would take their time and monitor areas which are reserved for drug dealers... The local cinema and park here, and if you join the group dedicated to my city on Facebook - we all know these places as truly unsafe and note them as drug dealing zones. ALL OF US KNOW... it's pathetic.
Though the police aren't interested in stake outs I suppose, it's too slow for them - they want to wait at a corner and catch the next sucker who goes goes 10K over......
The worst thing is, we have police stations being built every friggen month, but the only thing they focus on is vehicle violations. We have so many cops, but they all do the same thing.....
That's like 4 guys going to cut a lawn and all decide to use the same tools.. it's a waste of time when you can have them do different tasks.
Not to mention, my police are "Quebecois" ... do I really need to explain?
(every single female officer down here is smoking hot btw, all of them... no lie)
