Lawn care business tips
Nice job on the website. I'm not sure if you need to say on each page the first sentence about: we know etc etc etc you can count on us etc etc etc. It comes across as you are trying to talk the reader into it, at least to me. It put me on the defensive. I think most will just click away and go some where else. Just my POV. You have them going to the page you have, addresses all this already, no need to repeat it on the other pages. The other pages should deal with what they are, Services have the services listed. I would increase the font size to make it a bit larger throughout the site. Lastly, on the home page you have: There it should be spelled their. Not trying to tear it apart, just giving some ideas.

I find it hard to read as the font is small and the gold on white is hard to see

  1. Uses frames. Don't use frames.
  2. Page titles are meaningless
  3. Not enough padding at the bottom of some of the pages to allow for the bottom to be read due to the grass footer covering it.
  4. Use an email address with your domain name in it. Use info@foothilllawncare.com instead of foothilllawncare@whatever.com
  5. Change Admin to your name or company name in Wordpress database. (it's in the user settings)
  6. Numerous validation errors
  7. Presentational markup and divitis
  8. Images on your Photos page are linked to your laptop (<img src="file://///LAPTOP/www/lawcarebackup/images/jobs/5.JPG" alt="" />). You can see them but we can't.
  9. Graphics are nice though
  10. Why use two menus? One is enough. I'd go with the right column and do away with the top menu.
  11. Move the scripting off of the pages

Hope that helps.

Confused.

At the top it says "White Company Maintenance & Design", yet in the text below it says "Here at Foot Hill Lawn Care..."

Which is it?

Thanks Steve,
I know there are a lot of booger to fix in the site. As far as the side bar
I have to put the links there because if I don't word press puts a bunch of crap in it that I have no control over and I have no way to get rid of the top links. As far as the name Because of local red tape had to change the name. I missed the one in the paragraph on the front page.

What other plans do you have for the site in the future?

I am not 100% sure Steve. I put the site back how it was because I just liked it better and it was easier for me to update and for everyone to understand. A am adding several services this week to the site and to my list. My very first business I ever got into years ago was Rattle Snake removal. Since I love wildlife I figured I could mix this in to my landscape maintenance business by offering problem animal removal. I am also going to take advantage of my urban farm and put a store on the site where people can buy "in season" plants, food, exc exc for growing in there yard and have a small fee to put in in the ground for them. Yesterday I went out on the back 40 and started tilling up a spot just for this. We also normally get way more eggs than we need from our Chickens so I am going to offer those for sale as well. As far as the store goes, I will more than likely ship worldwide but mostly it will be for locals, for example they can set me up to bring 2 dozen eggs during each bi weekly lawn visit or something. I also want to set it up so people can order services right from the website, Basically my schedule will be integrated into the site and they can go right online order any services they want, pick a time and day that I am not booked and hit the order button, pay and I will be there that day. Since I am doing things full time now with no day job I also added 24 hour emergency service to my list of services so I can relight a pilot light or cut up a tree that falls in the driveway, emergency fence repair for live stock exc exc. Basically I am offering anything I can at any time I can to try to drum up business in what ever way I legally and morally can right now. I am still working the details out with the City on working with them, Hopefully that works out.

I think that sounds great. From there you can see what services are needed and which pay the best. Later you can focus more on those.
