Help with my dead lawn?

This last year I had the best lawn in the neighborhood. People would walk past and compliment it, I loved it but WFT happened to it? We only had 2 days where it dropped below freezing here. Lawn care business tips

I don't know how the climate in your area effects the lawns but is it possible it is dormant due to temperature?

Dunno about the lawn, check to see if there is a master gardener at the County extension office that could help.

perhaps, if you fertilized late might have prompted growth that reduced the plants temperature resistance, perhaps you watered too much and caused a shallow root system that cannot pick up what it needs now that the weather turned and you are watering less?

too many variables to tell from a pic alone.

I like the theme but you need to change your title name, that red on green is a nightmare to read, next to impossible. bump up the font size too and play around with colors, try something in the green palate that can be read against the background. play with fonts too.

The lawns we look after with our Organic products stayed a deep green right into Christmas as we hadn't had a snow fall but many nights of very cold temps, it's great marketing and I receive a lot of interesting feedback.

What have you done with the lawn, have you had the soil tested by the state and have you checked for insects?

I have done nothing to it. Just put the seed down and watered it. I am sure a good bit of it by now is weed and not lawn anymore. I really want it to look nice again though because it looks very bad doing this for a living and having a lawn like that. I just cant figure it out.

Perhaps a different species of grass. Here are the lawns across the street from me:

The house on the left has mostly zoysia grass on the one side of their steps. Looks sort of similar to your situation.

It sounds to me like this would be an ideal candidate for getting into the organic lawn business also with the nature's lawn products. Get the book that Andy recommended a while back "Building a healthy lawn" by Stuart Franklin. It is an old book but very well written and short.

You may have shallow root system that froze? dig out a plug and see how deep the roots go.

The before and after pics would be amazing for your web site if you did this.

If the lawn is merely dormant that won't do much.

If you look at the pics, the lawn looks to be mostly weeds that are green and a very thin lawn at best. No it will not help a dormant lawn but there is more than a dormant lawn happening there.
