Truck warning lights anyone?

Dose anyone use them? I use to use my hazard lights when marked on the road on front of a house but after nearly getting rear ended one day I now have an Amber emergency light on my roof which works awesome. People see me a mile away now. I dont think its legal to have it uncovered up there but I have yet to get stopped for it and the one time I got stopped for my tow ball the officer didn't say anything about the lights. As soon as I can dig up some money I am getting the Code 3 light bar in the link below. Dose anyone ells use emergency lights other than your flashers? Whats your experience about how well received they are and how good they work?

I don't believe the amber lights are an issue. Where you run into an issue is if you put on red or blue lenses. They tend to dislike that.

I think the light is a great idea. Not only does it let people know you are there, it lets people know you are there. Calls attention to yourself so they will read the signs on the truck to see who it is. Curiosity is human nature. Not everyone has a light so they want to know who it is.

Certain communities require a permit to use amber lights.

Me being a volunteer firefighter i have lights all over my truck. But i have stobes that i use for plowing as well. I have a 90 watt strobe pack with 6 heads...2 up front and 4 in the back...the lights are very bright and get the attention of the traffic even in the daylight. I have no problem with the lights as far as cops or anything like that...mostly bc im a firefighter

but i think they are very worth the money.

28" Safety Cones are also great to use to bring attention to your vehicle whereever it is parked.

Check your local laws about parking on the street in front of your customer's house. Even in some residential areas on side streets you are not supposed to park on the street when servicing a customer's lawn. I had an officer stop and speak to me about that once. He said if there were an accident, the person parked on the street would likely be at fault for obstructing traffic.

I currently have one of those awesome rotating lights on my dash in the windshield. I use it when im parked or on a service call. I also keep cones on the trailer.
I want a light bar tho. For hurricane season and to be like "POW!!! IM HERE!"

I have a cone as well but rarely use it. I just pull over, flip the switch that runs the emergency lighting and off I go. Where I am from it IS agenst the law for any utility or service car to have the light visable while not in use and or working meaning technicaly I am by law supose to have it covered. I however use to be a state fire fighter here as well as know all the cops and most importantly I DO NOT abuse the light so they leave me alone.
