How are you planning on generating traffic to your forum?

what is the purpose of the "blog protector" gadget?

and do you have to pay anything for alexa tracking on your site?

How are you planning on generating traffic to your forum?
It is all going to be organic.

Maybe I should tell you a little more reason behind the site. Bakers makes a very good deck stain but they do not advertise or attend conventions/trade shows. Since this is one of the stains that I use, in discussions with my supplier we came up with the idea of a collaboration type web site. With that we got together several applicators and manufacturers along with distributors. The object is to either sell the products to the DIY homeowner or to get the applicators work. Hopefully the latter but in the worst case scenario the local applicator would be able to supply the homeowner so they at least make a little off the deal. DIY homeowners will do their own work even if they go to the local box store to get their stains. We are going to educate the home owner on performing the work themselves with the thought of them purchasing from us. The forum is not what I care about, it is just another tool for us to utilize.

what is the purpose of the "blog protector" gadget?
This gadget prevents people from copying blog posts and using as their own unless they retype. It also prevents them from swiping photos of the posters work and claiming it as their own. I know of one person that had a photo stolen and used by a competitor on their site and it even had his yard sign in the photo. Basically it helps keep the content unique.

and do you have to pay anything for alexa tracking on your site?
Alexia traffic is automatic on all sites. Some just don't get enough traffic to justify a ranking.

also, what's your opinion of google analytics vs. alexa?
I use them both. You get slightly different information from both and I also use google webmaster tools.

Since this is free for applicators, the updating will be made really simple. Each applicator will be responsible for at least one blog post per month. Each blog post will be a minimum of 250 words and will be reviewed before they become public.

Imagine the updating that will take place over the course of those 30 days with 100 or more applicators.

My feeling is that sites like this that are constantly changing require less maintenance on the back end to keep at the top of the heap because Google is constantly checking back with you.

The site has been up for almost 72 hours now and already has an Alexia traffic rank under 10M.

About a week. Still doing a few tweeks to it but except for the addition of post content and forum content it is basically done.

I just located another plug in that will allow me to sent SMS messages also.

Check it out on your mobile phone. Works great on the I phone and Androids.

The manufacturer is located in Tennessee and makes world class sealers and concrete stains. If you have a slab that has already been sealed and you want to stain the concrete another color they have a solution for that.

Ultimately I am guessing you will want to be number one for the search of deck staining tips? Are there other search word phrases you are looking to rank #1 with or is that the main one?
