Burlap

My first attempt at using burlap today.. this stuff is such a pain in the arse!

Very difficult to cut or wrap around any plant with stems... I rang my customers doorbell, told him I hate the stuff and I ripped it out.

I told him I'd be back with something better, lol. I was that frustrated.

I'm going to buy this mesh stuff, and a few pickets - should be easier, better looking, and more expensive

So, what are your thoughts on burlap? LOL

Can you use a pair of fabric scissors or just a box cutter to cut it?

It can be a pain, like anything though practise makes perfect and it offers the best winter protection of any product I have found for evergreen's.

There are those wrap around products, I believe made of PVC, for our climate they do not offer the proper protection and the clients can sometimes end up with dead ever greens, and we know where the blame will fall......

Ultimately, is the goal of the burlap to keep the snow from breaking off the limbs during the winter? Or is there more to it?

Cuts down on frost bite also, in short it really protects the shrub over our winters which can be harsh at time, freezing rain etc.

That sounds why it is better than using the other mesh material.
