Default Backpack Sprayer Question

Ok...I know Picframer said he started out with these spraying lawns.(I tried sending you a message but i'm not sure if you got it) I tried the Hose end sprayer and just don't feel like its very professional and its very aggrivating lugging all the hose around. Most my yards are 6000 sq ft or smaller for now. So I guess i'm retarted when it comes to this but let me see if i get this right. If not please help!

Lets say i'm doing a 5000 sq ft yard and I have aerify plus, and the 16-4-8 fertilizer. So i need 20 oz of aerify plus and at least 50 oz of the fertilizer correct? If i put these in a say 4 gallon back pack sprayer and fill it with water and spray the yard with this mixture...will that work? or will it be way to rich for the ground? I'm just curious how you guys that use the back pack sprayers sprayed a yard.

THanks

Lawn care business tips
I have a pressurized backpack sprayer - its neat. THOUGHT it's a pain in the ***.

It comes out like a mist which is very Pansie like. lol

you should be spraying 1 gal/1000 sq ft. So you have the mix right but only 4 gallons so your a little rich but you would be spraying it a little thinner than a gallon/K sq ft.

I think Andy used a back pack sprayer for a very short time and quickly moved to having a tank on the back of his tractor. Like the tank shown in the above link.

Is that something you could try?

Thanks Dr I never thought about buying a spot sprayer and getting a cart. That would work pretty decent. I would love to mount mine to my zero turn, but every yard down here in texas has gates and the opening is just wide enough to push a 22 inch lawn mower through it.

Now can anyone tell me how to figure up how much water i would need for a 15 gallon sprayer? on a 5000 square ft yard.

lol I think you need to rephrase that or something. Its a 15 gallon sprayer so you need 15 gallons of water??? and you use 5 gallons of it on a 5000 sq ft yard.

yeah that does sound bad....lol really long day! thats my excuse.

If i have 20 oz of aerify plus and 50 oz of 16-4-8 fert then would I still use 5 gallons of water to put it on the yard or would I need to add more water into the sprayer?

I bought the 15 gallon fimco sprayer,

And honestly, its too slow, it doesnt pump enought to be prooductive

I looked at the 25 gallon and the 40 gallon models, and they have double the output, from 1gpm with the unit i bought, The 25 and 40 have 2, 2.1gpm

However reviews didnt look so hot, and the 40 gallon is 600 DOLLARS!

I might be looking into Deere products next season. (Athough i know there high $ as well)
