That is the basic idea however you need lettering on both side, people coming home and people leaving the area

Lawn care business tips
This reminds me of a discussion we had a few years ago, where you could put together a warning sign like this and put it on both sides of the yard being serviced.

You could use this for lawn care, tree services, landscaping, or anything else.

This may sound weird but i was planning on doing something this fall and summer

im buying a suit. if any of you watch Always Sunny in Philidelphia then youll know what im talking about.

its called a zentai suit (also known as green man by the show)
i am having one custom made. i thought it would be fun to have one to mess around in but then i though..i can get the green one and advertise while having some fun..it will brighten some peoples day haha.

heres a picture and a video link to them
im hoping it will draw some attention if i have a sign on my etc.

Very interesting! Ok tell me how you are planning on pulling all this together. No doubt the green man suit stands out, but how will you take that standing out and tie it into your business to help get the word out?

you can get them silk screened and i will get my company info on it. I will walk around town in it and just make people smile. Itll be a conversation between people and it will get word around quicker i assume..

plus itd just be fun to have

i could even mow a lawn or 2 in the suit with my normal pants and tshirt over it

if you see people wearing them with clothes on it looks real intesreting cause its like its a normal person but there all green haha

i just think itd be something other than the website, google, flyer, lawn sign deal.
something more creative

I was just thinking about yesterday.

The fall home show was this past weekend and exhibition park is 5 min from my home so I have to drive by it, traffic is nuts but I leave so early in the morning and get home so late it's not much of an issue for me.

However yesterday I had to come home to get something and drove by.

I saw a few cargo trailers and trucks parked in places that could be easily seen from the road, these companies invested quite a but in looks and man do they stand out, get my attention so they are getting others, image sends a massage to the prospect.

We do not have to brake the bank but guys spend a little money in paint and lettering, the target income earners you want notice this stuff. You can do the best quality work in your area but I have found and I know people do care about what is parked out front and on their property.

This is only an observation, nothing critical. I have my laptop in the truck for a number of reasons, sometimes at lunch I can stop into this site or others for a brake, I visit websites from time to time to see what members are up to. Sometimes I need information or I am looking for images of something, could be rock, flowers, trees whatever.

I saw one yesterday that really stood out, beautiful tractor that I am very familiar with, there is an image of it on the fellow's website on a trailer that is mainly rust, rims don't match, not even sure it would pass a highway vehicle enforcement inspection, I thought OMG a couple hundred bucks could make that fellow thousands as the areas we work in, if that setup were to show, I can pretty much guarantee he will not get work from people walking or driving by or the neighbours.

Big companies in every industry I know of have an image, we must also if we want to win, if you are not getting calls something is wrong, don't spend a lot of money trying more flyers, start asking the prospects for feedback, you will find that some will be up front and frank with you and it could be some little thing you can change to all of a sudden start getting the calls.

Andy,

What sort of questions do you feel business owners should be asking? Should they simply come out and say, "I am not getting any calls and I can't figure why? Could you help me understand?"

Or what is your thought on it?

Probably the million dollar question and answer and I don't have it. If I bid a job I follow up if we do not get it however we generally do get them. I tell the client I appreciated the opportunity to look at and bid on their project and if they do not mind sharing, was their something about my proposal that made you look elsewhere, honestly it's almost always been price. A few were because I can't draw worth a darn, I see it in my head but I can put it on paper.

This has got to be something everyone faces. When you get such a response back from a person who's property you bid on, what's your view on playing with the price. Should you or at this time would they have had already committed to another company and there is nothing more you can do? Is there any further attempt on the sale that should be tried for?
