Default Poulan Pro trimmers

Anyone had any experience with them? It seems Husky now owns Poulan and looks like maybe Husky offers a few more features on their equipment but really you're paying for the name. PP is much cheaper. I need a better trimmer and just can't pop for a Stihl or Echo because I need to get a trailer soon as well. Two gas trimmers and two electric and the electrics work better than the gas ugh!

If I can sweet talk the dealer into a deal on trimmer head and motor I may go with the Stihl KM90. When you buy quality you only cry once.

So you're saying go with Husky is that right? I had a Husky 128DJx picked out but was also considering the Poulan Pro PP133.

The 128DJ is $206 give or take depending on where you get it. You can get an Echo SRM-225 for $219. Sure it's only 21.2cc's but it's a snappy little thing. Plus the speed-feed head is super convenient. I picked one up in the beginning of this season (had a coupon for Home Depot) and absolutely love it.

Here's the thing I should have mentioned this at first. I want something I can add attachments to. I believe it's a bit cheaper in the long run. The only caveat to that is if I put many hrs on the same engine then both my trimmer and edger go out but right now when I'm starting out $300 is better than $450.

What say you?

You could go the PAS route but as you stated the downside is "what if". Think about how many times you'll be using the trimmer versus the edger. The 225 in PAS form is $249 with the string trimmer attachment and the edger attachment is $90 for the curved and $135 for the straight. I'd personally get a good straight shaft trimmer and a whatever-brand-i-can-readily-get-parts-for edger, but that's because I only use the edger 2-3 times a week. Even a 4 cycle would be fine for an edger.. not to mention you can get the attachments at Walmart and just bring them back if you break it.

Yeah I think I decided to go with just a Stihl 28cc trimmer. I can cut a fine edge with a trimmer and when I have some more cash I'll go with a standalone edger. Thanks!

One other question though. Echo has a deal for $299 on the PAS-225 21cc unit. It comes with trimmer and edger however it's only 21cc. Would that be good to start out with?

I've only used the trimmer version and I'm happy with it, but this guy has the edger version and may be able to help you with that question.

Well this one is the 21cc version not the 25cc so not sure. I'm torn because a Stihl 27cc trimmer is $279. An Echo 22.8cc is $289 so see my dilemma? Either way I'm gonna be dropping $300+ just not sure if I should go with a stand alone higher powered unit or the weaker unit that takes adds. I know that Echo is a good trimmer just not sure if I wanna go with something so limited in power hell even my crappy WeedEater Featherlite is 25cc.
