Have you noticed this more and more? Do you know anyone who retired and started up a business?

More retirees opting to launch startups - For the past 10 years, adults ages 55 to 64 have been the group most likely to start a new business, according to a study released in May by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, which promotes entrepreneurship.

Lawn care business tipsLawn Care Business Book
I'm noticing around here that alot of cops retire and start landscaping businesses. I know 2 personally and I think theres a few more that have started up, all in the past couple years only and thats only from my township that has 10-15 cops. I could only imagine what the larger surrounding cities cops are doing.

I have noticed two older people starting up lawn maintenance companies here. Both of them are around 55-60 years old

Do they do the work themselves or are they more over seeing operations?

Both of them are doing the work themselves that I can see. I don't think that they work it full time though

How do you feel such new start up companies effect you and your business?

I personally feel that they drive the prices down. Yes, I know that we can all argue that you can't necessarily blame that totally on competition, but in this area, when a new company comes in with lower prices, people will flock to them

I absolutely agree with you and I do feel such competition drives down prices, but what do you feel are the best options when presented with such a situation?
