This is a picture of my son Seth (The tall guy, 6' 5" and 235 pounds)who is on a work placement through the University at Gammon Gold, 2010 Olympic Gold metal winner Marc Kennedy and Kevin Martin stopped by their office this morning, Seth was over the top meeting Marc and being allowed to wear his metal.

Seth leaves for spring training this coming Thursday for the Canadian Olympics, he does Hammer, Discus and shot putt

This was a medal from the 2010 World Olympics, my son is on the Canadian team

That is very cool.

I was recently reading an article on how much it costs the average olympics participant to go from meet to meet and all the traveling costs per year. On average it was around $150,000.

It is very expensive and in Canada they receive very, very little assistance unless they are sponsored by a company and that is desperate hard to get, most are self supporting or a little help from the community.

In the same article I was reading, they talked about how the Home Depot used to have a program where they would pay athletes training for the olympics a full time salary and benefits for only part time work.
