As we know getting on the first page of a search engine is important if we want to pick up new customers, based on reading and talking not only to current clients but new clients that contact us, it is rare they go to the second page of the search engine results. Many clients like Google Maps, you can add your business for free and I encourage you to do so. http://maps.google.com/support/bin/s...29&topic=21032 The next thing I did was search various terms, in my case for example "Halifax NS Organic Lawn Care", "Halifax NS Mini Excavation" etc. I wrote down the URL of each company listed on the first page of Google. Next I down loaded a free program called Web CEO, this will tell you of any issues with your website, allow you to compare your site to your competition, show you your rankings and a host of other SEO tools. It is important to remember, every page you have within your website allows for a page description and key words for the crawlers, use different words than you did on your home page, this will really maximize the search engine results. I have found it important to add fresh content to the site every few weeks, if the search engines log that there are changes every time they visit, they will come back more often, I have tracked my site and it is being crawled every three days. This process does not happen overnight, I can however get front page ranking in 30 days, then I have to tweak the site to get on top. I haven't checked my ranking for a while so I did this morning, I am on the first page of every search engine using searches for services we offer and #1 on Google which was the ultimate goal. Don't forget to use the feature to submit your site to the search engines, that is critical at the start once you have your site in order. Have fun Andy

I am running a report now, one thing you need to do is add all your services in the meta tags, also go to Google and set up an account, it's free and list your biusness as it's not there.

I had to save screen shots in order to get it to work.

As you can see, Google doesn't have you and in my experience when they do not have you, you will be overlooked, I will submit your website to them for you

Next is to create links to help you get there fast, every city I have seen has Free Business directories, I did a search, add your company to the following but remember to add what areas you offer services including Google Business:
