I was just wondering how many of you charge based on the job, rather than charge by a set rate

If it's just lawn maintenance you're asking for, I stopped charging by square foot & now I just do set prices. If I take a glance at a lawn I can figure out price. Basically my prices are set. If you are just starting out, take note of the size of your customers lawns for awhile. You can also measure your lawn at home & every time you go to do a bid, just compare your customers lawn to your own. I've done this for awhile & I'm usually spot on when I randomly measure my customers lawns anyway out of curiosity.

It sounds like i'm just going to stick to charging based on "eye".

I'm fine with charging for supplies (mulch, sand, I4, ect...)

You can Eyeball it but I always measure the lawn. Then consider drive time Etc. Always a set price.

I also always ad a jerk fee if needed? Really I do I just don't tell em.
