Propane Lawn Equipment

Hi Everyone: I've not been around much lately as I've been traveling a bit this winter. I just got back from California where I met with a propane lawn equipment manufacturer. If you've yet to begin your switch to propane, I think you will need to begin researching this alternative fuel. I've been predicting for a couple years that propane is going to take over the small engine market in the United States. Cost effectiveness is the big hurdle that propane equipment mfg's are struggling to overcome. 2010 will see a couple of those hurdles surmounted. As propane becomes more easily accessable, its aggragate price drops, and EPA laws become more stringent, propane will become the fuel of choice for all in the lawn care industry. What's the time frame? I don't know but I likely see it happening within the next 10 years. I would like to speak with anyone who is pro-propane and anyone who is experimenting with non-conventional fuels in their lawn care businesses. Keith Start A Lawn Care Business

Keith check out this thread about a Propane unit. http://www.gopherforum.com/showthread.php?t=10758 I am not necessarily for propane or gas over the other. They are both good, but now there are options, which is good, but like you said it might come to a "must" with propane units.

I am going to start experimenting with Nitrous and Alcohol. I figured if I can get the mower up to about 78,000RPM I could shave about 30 seconds off my times and suck all the bugs out of the dirt as well.

78,000 RPM: 21.666666666666667 times the max RPMs recommended with gasoline. You will be the envy of every landscaping and pest removal companies in the area!! Remember, don't inject all the Nitrous at once! What's further, remember to charge for the pest removal service you are providing! Consider this, the pests you don't suck right up out of the ground you will kill with sheer vibrations and noise as your engine reaches its thundering and screaming climax!!
