Flyers and Mailboxes Don't Mix

Just remember!!! It is against the law to open someone's mailbox and put your flyer inside. You can attach the flyer to the outside with tape, rubber band or however you want to do it, DO NOT OPEN their mailbox. One day you'll put a flyer inside a lawyer's mailbox hungry to sue you and you'll wish you hadn't. Just a word of advice.

That's why I climb up their neighbors tree and onto their roof, down the chimney & into the kitchen where I can put my flyer on their fridge with a magnet. Then I can just let myself out through the front door.

Just kidding....

Though this is a great reminder. It's better to be safe than totally screwed.

My business cards usually go in the door jams, though I always put my flyers in their mail boxes.

Actually, I usually roll the flyer up slightly & put it between the door handles. Everyone has these door handles, mind as well make a use of em'

I am talking about the postal service in the US. Of course I don't have any knowledge of Canadian regulations on this.

This came to mind because I have seen a lot of people on here say that they are putting their cards or brochures in people's mailboxes. When I live in Atlanta many years ago, I had a landscaping business and we were putting cards inside mailboxes. I got a call one day from a lawyer threatening to sue me. He was a complete jerk but after doing my homework, I found out that he was right.

You can put you cards anywhere except on or in the mailbox. I suggest using rubber bands and putting them on the door knob.

In Canada if the mail box is attached to the house or on the customers property, you can leave a flyer in the box.

If it's those outdoor units that just about every community now has, you can tape to the side of these units however never slip anything inside a clients box or Canada Post will go after you.

I was curious about this back in the spring and called Canada Post.
