Lawn care business psychic reading.

Ok this was great. The family was at a psychic fair today. They had several tables where you could get a reading. I paid $20 "business expense lol" for 15 minutes, little did I know this 15 minutes would change my outlook forever. We sat down, she asked my name, The she asked if I was seeking anything specific. Basically I said I own a business and something is rubbing me the wrong way, I need to know if I should continue or walk away. She proceeded to tell me a bit of universal information such as I make good business decisions so on and so forth. I thought to myself this proves nothing, its universal. I was way not impressed and part of me wanted my money back but I am a nice person so I was not rude. I just nodded and said ok. This is where things got very strange. I was about to thank her and get up when she got this funny perplexed look on her face. She appeared deep in though and wander and then came out saying "Business is not your problem, You have another problem effecting business and not allowing yourself to go a direction in business that you need to go" She said there is a lot of money in my future business, more than I had originally thought. I am thinking ok this still proves nothing. Then with another perplexed look she recited a conversation to me. My chin nearly hit the floor, This was a conversation I had with my wife 3 weeks ago on some worries with business and the idea of quitting. I got a very very odd feeling over me. She then said again there is an underlying problem with me and if I walk away from this business this problem will curse me within all future endeavor until I deal with it. Talk about a trip, Best $20 write off yet though LOL I got a card if anyone wants her contact info. I find it hard to explain it here but honestly in person this lady turned a true born and raised christian into a believer. I jsut can not stress enough, this conversation was recited work for word as I remembered it by someone that I or my family has never met. Very very unexplained.

It is quite amazing, when you are on a precipice and you are considering your next move, how such decisions can have a life long impact. I wonder if after a couple of days of reflection on this conversation you had with her if it will have an effect on your decision.

I tell ya what Steve, I am sure others will roll there eyes at this whole turn of events but this is how I feel. I have never been a big believer of this kind of stuff but this one event changed my outlook on everything. My job now is to determine what I am doing to hold this business back, She asked me about legal stuff, for some reason she was getting the feeling of a contract. Is it possible that my refusal to use contracts with my clients is holding the business back? Or might it be the fact that I wont knowingly take clients from other people? There are several things I could be doing to inadvertently hold the business back, I just need to find out what now and fix the problem.

Did you just come out and ask her what you could do differently? That would have been interesting to hear her thoughts.

No Ididnt ask that. I was just looking for a definitive yes or no answer. Although I did not get that answer directly I indirectly got it. Basically she said there is more money in it than I anticipated but on top of that said this is a personal issue not a business one and will follow me no matter what I do. Therefor I need to work out the issue and try to not let it interfere with business anymore. As soon as I do this my business should grow exponentially..

Does that mean it's like a mental issue? Where if you are uncertain of something, you won't be fully committed to it?

I am not sure Steve. There are many possibilities. It could be the fact that in a recent conversation I was talking about how taking customers from other lawn care businesses dose not sit right for me, Maybe I have to break down and start steeling clients. It could also be that I do have a regular job and have to mow lawns on the weekends, Maybe this regular job is not letting the business grow. We were unable to get into specifics about it other than it was a problem not caused by the business itself and if I quit and started another venture this problem would follow me until I deal with it. I have run this over in my head thousands of times the past couple days and there are so many potential culprits its mind boggling.

These things are fascinating how the mind works. Isn't it ultimately always us that hold us back?

Maybe if you made a list of the issues, you could then deal with them one at a time and try to move forwards with them. Otherwise they might all together become the 800lb gorilla in the room that is always just sitting there, keeping you from moving forwards.

Thats not a bad idea, unfortunately I know there are an issue or 2 that are not really fixable so that may present a road block for me. The good news is things are really starting to slow down, even slower than before. I closed out another account for the year yesterday and will make my final trip there this coming Saturday then have no more work there until spring. This means there will be less to stress about and more time ti figure it all out.

I mow for a ladie that does this I am totally going to get her to do my bussiness. I am in the same boat no contracts and wont try stealing bussiness from other people. I also am afraid of putting out flyers for some reason.
