Has anybody had great or even good success stories with using door hangers? I am saying something like at least a 5% response rate

Lawn care business tips
Hi tiedeman,

That is a great response rate. I haven't seen anything that high. But maybe others have.

In mass marketing I've never even had 1% response. I'm putting out 5,000 door hangers this week and I'm hoping to get 1% response, my close rate is high so if I have a low response (.5% even) I'd still probably close 15-20 of the 25 calls.

If I get down in spirit I might put out 20 really nice door hangers with great offers, this way if I get 1 call I'm already at 5% response

Do you have different door hangers you use with different offers?

Right now I'm using a spin off of one of gophers door hangers. I decided to go middle of the road with it using 2 colors (black and green). I didn't want to go full color since I've heard of it causing some potential clients to shy away thinking your too pricey, and I didn't want to go black & white because it looked too cheap to me. The black and green looks like a nice simple flyer that gets the message out and isn't too pricey or too cheap.

TG, I didn't offer any discounts. I've offered discounts in the past, and no one ever even worried about them. I've offered 3 free cuts with 1 year service agreement 15% off mulch installs, 15% off shrub pruning. No one ever mentioned the discount or gave me the little coupon to receive the discount. I've also read about alot of people that had the same results.

I'm not sure what the reason behind this is...I've always known it as "free is good", it could be like I've been reading lately that the baby boomers want quality and are willing to pay. They are after all about 70% of my market and nearly 90% of my client base (baby boomers that is).

I'll post up a picture of the doorhangers I'm using later, it's not on my home computer so I can't post it now.

nice, do they ever fly off the door knobs when your walking away. I put out doorhangers on a windy day last week, and I saw a lot of them go flying as i was walking to the next house. It was frustrating

If the porch gets alot of wind I noticed these ones would fly off pretty easy. I've been watching the weather and hitting on days that its going to be nice and not so windy.

The other day we mostly were putting them in paper boxes, all the new homes here have a paper slot built into the mailbox's (they're not going in the mailbox, so I'm ok) at the end of the drive so we were tossing them in there.
