Smile New Seasonal Contract

Haven't been on here in a lil bit. We just got this new contract for seaonal service about a month ago, at $165.00 per month to mow, trim weeds and edge. We did the mulch job for $290.00 for 6 yards of mulch including spreading the mulch. The bed prep was $65.00, and spreading Preen was another $25.00. We are looking forward to a great year! We just need to get a Hoogendorn Holly for this customer. He already has 3 of them, but wants one more to ballance the mulch bed. His yard has been neglected for the past few years, so we are planting new seed and killing the weeds for him.

Lawn care business tips
That looks like a great property and you did a fantastic job! It be great if you could offer upsells like driveway paving. WOW that home could really benefit from it.

What did you have to do for the bed prep? How long did that take?

Default Nice!!!

There's no doubt you did a good job. What was the price of the mulch per yard? How much do you charge per yard to install? I only ask because I calculated the mulch/install to be around $350.

Default Numbers dont add up

you said that you made about $ 60.00 an hour.
If you take the mulch cost which is about an avge of
$ 30.00 x 6 = $ 180.00 plus tax say about $ 190.00 total
then you have your cost of preen that you placed out cost about $ 25.00
so total all together is about $ 215.00 minus the $ 290.00 = $ 75.00 for work
and if you were there for six hours $ 75.00 / 6 = 12.50 an hour. then you have your time when you had to pick it up from the place you bought it from. i just dont like to see you work so hard on it and not make anything for yourself. and then you taxes and insurance and the other things you have to pay for to run your business.

What is your view on how this could be bid better to improve profit and still keep it within the range a customer would be willing to accept?

I dont know about anyone else but I get $120 a yard installed. I do not do it alone, so I have help to pay, if your by yourself and your happy with $40-$60 profit on the job all the power to you.
