Pressed or welded lawn mower deck?

I am just wondering what the ups and downs are to a pressed and welded deck. I've heard welded is the way to go but i cant understand why it would matter? Does anyone have any input?

I think part of it is that the metal that is used in the pressed decks is thinner than in those that need to be welded.

Welded is definitely better. Welded decks tend to be constructed much better. They will typically be more expensive if they are fabricated correctly but they are worth the extra dough. Like Steve said, pressed/molded decks tend to be lighter material (heavy material would take a lot more to press). To top it off, if a company is going to go the cheap route and press their decks to save money, don't you think they might also cut corners on material costs (i.e. lighter materials, cheaper quality materials, etc.)?
