Check out this lawn care company. They got a tax abatement to build a new building in their town. Have you ever thought about approaching your town council about something like this? Why not! You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

What's your view?

Jay Murtha, owner of Jay's Landscaping, called it "an eye-opener for smaller businesses."

Either way, it was a tax break, which the council enthusiastically approved for Jay's Landscaping on Monday.

The tax abatement is for 50 percent of the estimated value of the business' new building planned at 473 Sullivan Ave. That means that for three years, Jay's Landscaping will pay taxes on an assessed value of only $353,140 for its building, instead of $680,880.
