Or is it worthwhile to keep one of each big selling product so people can look at the product, hold it and then order it for later delivery?

Or is it best just to sell it all and make more as needed?

Based on my experience Steve, a booth that starts to see things go and you do not replace them right away, increases sales, so we let it run down to 50% then add a few things through out the day. If you keep your booth full, your sales will not be near as good, I have been doing craft shows for at least 14 years, all trial and error.

Also,

When you think about this and through your years of experience, why do you feel it is so difficult to come up with what will actually be a hit? Why do you feel there is always this huge void between what you feel will be a hit and what the consumer wants?

In my case, just too stubbron I think. I seem to have an idea in my head of what the clients want rather than asking the prospect, once I use the proven Ask and if you hear it three times, go after it, it works every friggin time.

I bet this happens to everyone too! It's just that most tend to give up and feel they just don't have what it takes to make it in the business world, but if they only kept on, they might have found success.
It probably does happen a lot, we seem to be afraid to ask the customers what they want, we offer what we have and I think we loose out a lot of the time.

Those are awesome, i want a pen! I could use a nice pen in the truck!

I have been making clocks for the last two years from trunks and limbs i have cut. Cut it while its still wet (one inch thick slabs), let it dry for a month, sand, score, burn, lacquer, sand, polish, number, acrylic, sand, polish... Ill post a pic if i can boot my desk top.

Never sold them, just give them away.

Matt

Are there any large wood projects you have been meaning to work on but just haven't started yet?

Unless it's for the house or something my kids want, I haven't taken on large projects for years, personally I do not find a lot of joy in something that takes weeks to complete, I guess I like production.

As the same time, one of our excavation clients wife is opening a deli/resturant, met with them yesterday, they want me to build the furniture, they have pictures but can't find what they want, I will get back to them Friday as it will take me three months to complete, good money but as I noted I like small quick projects.
