Lawn care business tips
It is very important I feel to at times target the services you provide. Postcards such as these can be used to target any properties you come across along your current route that could use your services. I can't tell you how many times I would drive by a house and think, I wish I had a card for this or that to leave them. Leaving a business card is ok, but post cards are much better.

Great idea! This is something Andy has been talking to us for a while about as well.

What's your advice for how best to distribute them? Say for instance you drive down the road and see a house that needs their leaves picked up, how do you go about getting the postcard into the customer's hand? Do you try and talk with them or stick it in their door or what?

I like and have found people do not loose postcards like they do business cards, here is the fall post card I did last year, we probably will not had them out this year as our focus has been landscaping and tree work and I am not even sure we can get finished what we have on the books. This fall has been the warmest I have seen since I lived here (21 years), the leaves have started to change a little but normally they would either have changed or gone due to the tropical storm season.

In any event, cards that are designed to a specific purpose, given out driving by a site that needs a service, has been one of our biggest job generators.

I like the idea of andys idea alot more than individual ones.

its an all around card..you could even throw in a couple different images in the center that are related to the season.

postcards would be a great tool to have and i think i might start using them.
a business card is small..its hard to place..when they open a door it often falls or dosnt even make it to the customers point of view.

a postcard is big and bulky and you can see it easily.

Thanks, what put's a smile on my face is many people put these on their fridge or note board, you are in the eyes of that client a lot. I loose other companies business cards and sometimes it bugs me as I need something but I can't remember their name. A post card is easy to find and they are cheap to have made, but most important to me is man they really work well.

Andy,

Why do you think that is the case, where we tend to lose business cards but not postcards?

Business cards are smaller, so wouldn't you think we would be able to keep them easier, or is the opposite the reason. Because they are smaller, we tend to lose them? Or maybe its because these postcards are just bigger and more colorful?

I think it's like any service industry, every body has business cards, they are small, they mixed in with the pile etc. Postcards are so much larger, easier to read, can contain more information, mine all have pictures of the service in question and as they say a picture can say a thousand words, they are cheap to have printed and man do they stand out.

When it comes to marketing, I want to do what everybody else is not or very few are, in business we need an edge marketing is one, we buy the best equipment there is and it all is kept in new condition, our trailers all have mag wheels, why all this grabs attention, many on here might not think so but I know based on the business pouring in and the comments are constant not only from prospects and clients, we even get them from other landscaping companies.

Especially trailers, I mean you can go spend $14,000 on an entry model compact tractor, show up with a trailer that looks like it came from the junk yard, what is that client going to think? Keep your gear cleaned up, touch it up with paint, it makes a very big difference at least to our target market.

I did it in April of last year with only one service, and when the feedback is I have never seen this before and like it, you know you are onto something, it has been a hit and really grew our company quick.
