Severe Weather Statement For Darlington County, SC
Statement as of 3:14 AM EDT on June 16, 2010
... Heat advisory in effect from noon today to 7 PM EDT this
Very hot temperatures (100F) will develop across eastern South Carolina
today. This combined with high humidity levels (92%) will lead to
apparent temperatures between 110 and 119 degrees this afternoon
into very early evening. Apparent temperatures are what it feels
like to the body.
Expect late afternoon thunderstorms.
A heat advisory means that a period of very hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible.
Here is what you can do to beat the heat. Drink plenty of water or
water-based fluids... and stay in an air-conditioned environment.
Avoid direct sun... even an umbrella can provide needed shade if
you must be outside.
It is imperative that you do not leave children or pets in the
car... as this can prove deadly in a short amount of time.
It went all the way down to 79 last night.
My sod supplier advised holding off on delivery today for scheduled job (15,000+ sq. ft.) so I'm taking the day off for bookwork and such.
