Default Things are great!

I'm getting calls from all over to do lawn maintenance, it's beautiful.

I've got one full time employee who uses the walk behinds, while I ride the tractor - pretending my job is more difficult.

"you don't want to use the tractor, it's very hard & painful"

B.S ^^^ hahaha

So basically I bang out most of my lawns with the tractor, it's a great thing. But my employee usually has nothing to do.

He'll grab the trimmer as I mow, though as soon as I'm done I take the trimmer & actually make it serve it's purpose.

My guy is either blind, careless, or stupid. He'll run the trimmer the entire time I'm mowing, when I'm done I have to refill it & trim the damn properties myself. I'm not sure what goes on in his mind as he uses it, but he basically doesn't do jack all!

The problem is, I seem like a monster of an a-hole when I grab the trimmer after each and every time he thinks he's done a good job. There is only so much I can do to teach him.

Either way, the wasted gas & the annoyance from it doesn't beat the fun times we have.

He's finally getting decent with the mowers, making straight lines & not missing/ leaving patches. So I'm happy.

NEW ADVERTISING IDEA:

Sometimes for fun, I blast classical music on the radio - it's hilarious to see responces. Well, it's all we listen to now & heads ALWAYS turn.

No one listens to classical, but when they hear it - Breeze is in town! LMAO!

So my updates....

Gardens are getting done, still have a lot of work to do before the end of the month - which leaves me NO time off because I have to chauffeur my garden weeder around when she is available & drop her off a lunch daily. So when I'm done work, I'm out helping her. Though I rarely get down in the gardens & start doing her job - I don't have patience for that & I'm not as good as her.

Also, I feel bad because I do have plenty of customers at the moment. Whoever asks for an estimate gets thrown a higher than average price - seeing if anyone will bite. Though I think I'll go back to these customers and give them my real prices & get them on board.

I haven't updated my schedules or anything at all, basically it's all in my head & I haven't had time to jot anything down. I should get to that, because I have received 8 new customers the past 2 weeks & the only chance I have of keeping them is by remembering to do them last minute, other than that I better have the papers filled out. I'm swamped.

My birthday was on the 17th, I worked & went to bed. Celebrated it yesterday by getting myself a haircut & a shave. lol. My birthday celebration isn't over though, I can't wait to throw my company shirts in the laundry (I haven't washed them since day 1)

All my customers are extremely happy with the service I provide - ALL of them come out to chat with me, or randomly call me to see how I'm doing.

I have done a great thing this season & my customers are hooked on my personable approach.

Most recent news...

One of my customers told me today that he is an electrician.

One of my customers called me today because he lost electricity in his home. I went over & dug out their generator & started that bad boy up like a lawn mower - good skill to have.

I told him to leave it off for the night & I will set it up tomorrow morning - it's louder than thunder. Eventually I'll call my other customer & see if he can do some work on THIS customers home.

Their dog crapped on the floor in the house, I stepped in it & smudged it all over the place. Stairs, hallway, carpets.. you name it. Don't lose power next time & I wont do that! LOL

So I'm covered in oil, gas, grease, grass, paint, dog hair, dog crap, & mustard.. I'M DONE FOR THE DAY!

Goodnight!

Lawn care business tips
I wish i was doing as well as you

the rain keeps coming..but its not consistent..its rain..beautiful..tstorm..gorgeous..drizzles..pouri ng..amazing.. i hate it
and my customers dont seem to understand that i have people scheduled before them..so if its nice out on thursday but crap wednesday..i have wednesday customers to deal with before thursdays..and maybe on or two may get pushed to friday..depends on how fast i can work..

i NEED a bigger mower and a trailer..but i can not find one for the life of me that is decent..i think i may have found a deere or a grasshopper (see in deere forum) but idk yet.. then once the mower comes i can get all my lawns done 2-3 times as fast..

Well, i wish i was doing that well, but I cant complain. I've had steady business and I only need helpers now and then. I plan to make due with my John deere and old trailer for this year. I'm hoping to profit enough to get a 6 x 12 next year. Growth is hard in my area, the market is just saturated. I figure that if I just keep truckin' along and do quality work I'll get bigger eventually.

Glad to hear you are having a great year we are in the same boat, I said to the staff this week, why is it when we don't need additional business it seems to fall from the sky?

You bring up an interesting point, the #1 complaint and about the only one I have from clients is my trimmers, to me it's simple, I have spent so much time going back over with them after I inspect a job or receive a call, I always make them do it and if it has to be done again because they were careless, you are paid half your hourly rate, just trying to teach them a lesson, if I do it then they won't learn but it's a major thorn in my side at the moment.

Keep us posted on what your view is of it after a week or so. We'd all love to hear your review of the service.

So far the down falls are 12 bucks a lead win are not.

Credits take a week to go through.

Pay off is a 12 bucks for a 500 dollar job are a 500 a year are more lawn service so its worth it.

So far i have had a 90% success with the leads only lost one and two were bad leads. One i may have though of subing out could have won that one just was out of my scope of what i do but thinking about it i could have taken it and sub it out. The other one phone was out of range so waited to long as he was price shopping but never know.
