Twitter - a waste

I was doing some business reading and found an article on skateboarder and entrepreneur Rob Dyrdek. In it, he is asked about social media. You've been pretty effective with social media. That is something pretty much any company can try to replicate. How important is that for you and your brands? I don't think it's very important. Really? I don't think so. I think it's one of the biggest, overhyped things in all of media today. There is more to the story and if you get a chance, read it. But really when you look at this social media thing, the majority of it is just crap. It's marketers tweeting to marketers tweeting to marketers. As Rob says in the article, the effectiveness of it is minimal. Keep in mind too, this is a guy who has his own show on MTV and is plugged into the social media world. If he is saying this, how effective is social marketing going to be for your lawn care business? What's your take on all this?

that's is why I don't tweet, I don't see the relevance. I have gotten work off myspace. facebook has yet to produce any jobs for me. The main reason I do all the free internet stuff, is to try to get people to my site, and ultimately get me more work.

The way I market on myspace is more aggressive than what I do on facebook.

When you say you are more aggressive with your marketing, do you just mean in finding people or do you mean in the offers you make and the amount of marketing messages you send out?
