I know my work is slightly different but something that I do is place the slip of paper between the door and the door jam. Some of the door are loose enough that you can slip the paper all the way through between the door and the jam. This keeps it from blowing away. For those people who have metal doors, consider buying those magnetic business cards and maybe using these to hold your flier on the door. Just some thoughts....

As far as using business cards, consider this when it comes to providing promotions, I saw a local business do something that I really liked. They took their business card and placed a sticker on the back. The sticker was from one of those sheets of stickers that you can get at walmart or any office supply store for cheap and run it through your printer. You can set this up (on your computer) to say something like "$10 off first mowing" or what ever you want it to say.

I think I would recommend using these sort of at random, or if it seems like a potential customer is teetering on signing a service agreement or not. It can be as simple as, "here, I tell you what. Give us a try and I will personally give you $10 off your first mowing." Make it seem as if you are doing something special for this customer that you would not do for just everyone.

Or perhaps you can drop a card off at the convenience store, by the soda machine, face down (with the sticker on the back facing up). Sorry for distracting from the topic.....

I did this last year, the stickers did help!

"upon receipt of this card, get $20.00 off Breeze Lawn Service"

"Offer valid till May 1st 2009"

I bet it did work! When I saw that I immediately thought that was pretty innovative. If you watch how businesses market, it is amazing the things you will see.

That is really interesting!

Do you mean use a sheet of stickers like this? Or maybe get them in color?

Sorry, I should have clarified that. I meant Address Labels. Like this:

Or perhaps this is a better picture:
