Changing from boots to sneaker I can cut 25% off of a mowing day (save 1/2 hour every 2 hours). I'm also much less tired at the end of the day.

The problem with steel toe or boots, I find that it changes the way I drive. With shoes I can feel the vehicle.

In winter it was bad, when I braked it would be jerky, and stepping on the gas would be like propelling a rocket. Shoes give me freedom & feel for my vehicle. Steel toe isn't too bad, though my old boots blistered my feet. I'll look into a good pair.

If I'm doing work other than grass, I'll wear steel toe. Lugging around an extra pound can wipe me out during the day if I'm moving a lot.

I was just about to make a thread asking about good lightweight work boots and decided to do a search first and what do I see.... Breeze up to his usual antics.

I'll post a pic of my sneaks after this post.

I really can't afford good boots right now, but I am looking for the best so I know what to buy.

I worked with a buddy and his son for a while and his son works as a mechanic for UPS and showed me his Redback work boots that he works in, on yards and in the garage. They were lightweight and steel-toe. He said they cost about $160. Anybody else have experience with Redback boots?

I'd figure it would be better to drive with steel tip boots because if you get a ticket you could always blame the boots for speeding
