Hang in there buddy.
Do you have another job?
If you don't I would suggest getting one.
It's not easy starting out especially in this economy.
It's best to start out solo part time in this business.
Don't over extend yourself with new equipment or advertising for that matter.
You'll get your break when you land some customers.
Word of mouth is still the best advertisement.
Once you start working in a area other neighbors will come out and talk to you
about your services.
Don't limit yourself to just mowing and trimming.
I have more tilling, mulching and planting jobs this year than I have had since I started in 1987.

One thing I personally like to see is when you are handing out fliers is to make in person contact and speak to the potential customer. This is a time where you may be able to give them a quote and leave a good first impression. This would mean a lot to me if I was looking for a landscaper. I view door hangers and fliers on my door or in the mailbox much like spam. Knock on my door and talk to me and I will know whether you are a nice guy or not....
