broadcast spreader

I have a Wright Stander mower and I am looking for a broadcast spreader to attach to the front of it. I have looked at two models and I am not sure what I am missing when comparing the two. The first one is a JRCO broadcast spreader. It mounts directly to the mower and is powered through the battery. The cost from the dealer is $1600. The other that I have looked at is the Lesco spreader. It has similar capacity, is powered the same and mounts the same way. The cost on it is $300. What am I missing here?

Lawn care business tips

I haven't studied them at all. Does anything stand out to you about the two different ones? Is one just that much more well built than the other? And does it matter with such a price difference?

What did you decide to go with? I also have a wright 36 and 52. My Lesco dealer has the 80lb walk behind on sale for 289. I'm tring to decide if I need both the walk behind and one attached to the mower for the larger commercial accounts.

Maybe someone else can jump in here with an opinion? Eli maybe?

I don't have any experience with the mounted speaders. Also I have been unable to locate any info on the lesco spreader and thus was unable to do a comparison. I could not help but wonder about thefollowing issues tho:

-Quality of construction (materials used, thickness of material used, Stainless steel vs other steel, steel vs plastic, quality of the electric motor, etc)?

-is the capacity the same?

-warranty?

-compatibility with multiple brands of equipment (and thus raising the price)?

-do they have all of the same "features" (sometimes features that make a piece of equipment sound good are not that important or that functional to make it worth the extra money)?

-Are both of them quick disconnect (I see the JRCO one is) and if not, how important is that?

-are both easy to dismount from your mower?



You may also consider the earthway line of products. From what I see it appears they do not come with a pre-made mount but for the difference in price you may choose this route.

I am sure you have asked some of the same questions already and have these answers in hand. It's just like I said, I can't compare them and as such don't have the answers at hand.

If the dealers are nearby consider taking the info from one and going to the other and ask them what is better about theirs. Then grab the info from the 2nd one and do the same with the first spreader....
