Revolution means turning the wheel...
- Igor Stravinsky

From the book Good To Great by Jim Collins, Jim discusses how business is a lot like turning a massive metal fly wheel that weighs 5000 lbs. You push with great effort with imperceptibly results at first. After hours of persistent effort you achieve one complete turn. You keep pushing in a consistent direction and achieve a second then a third rotation. The flywheel builds up momentum with each turn...twenty...thirty...fifty....a hundred.
At some point the momentum feels to be working with you. You aren't pushing any harder than you did at first but the fly wheel goes faster and faster. At a certain point, this heavy wheel flies forward with almost unstoppable momentum.
Now imagine someone comes along who sees this and asks, "What was the one big push that caused this thing to go so fast?"

Can you relate to this theory of business? Do you find that it applies to you and your business? Is this theory helpful?
