For those who are debating whether or not to use Paypal or another merchant service to collect money via credit cards...... Paypal has probably the lowest rates you will find unless you process more than 10k a month. I have two other merchant accounts, Authorize.net and innovative merchant solutions, neither of these processors offer me lower rates like Paypal is offering. The only drawback, for me at least, is when a customer uses Paypal instead of my other solutions, he/she is directed away from my site and required to login or register to complete the transaction. When they choose my other processing solution there is no redirection, customer enters the cc info and its done. I like this method better because its much easier for the customer.

Yes you can but...

If your using Paypal you CANT process the card outside of thier secure site. This is why they offer these rates, cards are authenticated on thier checkout page. I process cards on my site from beginning to end, the user is never taken to another site. This is how it works and there is no other way with Paypal.
