Hello all.
this is my story:
I am in the process of getting my business off the ground finally and this is my plan. I am working to mind my business and not work the business so much. What I am sayin is that I am gonna build a business from the start that I manage and not out stomping the turf. If i am out stomping the turf all day everyday I will not have time to manage and expand as needed. I see that to be the main problem in my area with most lcos. They get too much business too quick and can't get to everyone because they are out there pushing or riding a mower all day.
I have some equipment:
2007 3500 Dodge ram
2006 20 foot equipment trailer that I am having modified as we speak. 2' solid sides and a storage rack
Kubota 31 hp diesel 60 inch zero
Kawasaki trimmers
redmax blowers
Ford 3910 tractor with bushhog, tiller, aerator,
maybe some more stuff just can't think right now

Anyway my plan on how to do this is to get my employees very involved and make it to where their earnings potential is unlimited by paying them say a third of my billing. I figure this should motavate them to do great work and follow my policies or standards to keep clients and work hard themselves to sale my business and in return sign on more clients and make more money. Now I feel this will be a great motivator. Keeping good hired help I feel will be my biggest obstical.

There is plenty more I could say about this i'm sure but my time is short right now so if I could get some feedback on this type of plan it would be appreciated.

Lawn care business tips
BW,

You are on the right track. I don't know which employee inducement would work best for you but I think if you experiment you will find success with it.

This is a very difficult balancing act. How do you stay on top of things without being caught up in the minutia of the day to day?

Some people are able to pull it off while others are not. I think the toughest part about it is being able to let go and delegate.

Please keep going in your thought process.

BW,

Give us a review on those Kawasaki trimmers.

What are your likes / dislikes?

I know Kawasaki has a line of lawn care power equipment (leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, string trimmers, etc) but I've not had an opportunity to demo any yet.

Thanks:

Keith

Hi BW

I hope this works out for you. watch you don't get caught up in the multi-multi tasking, many have tried and most have failed. most multi taskers never truly get things finished on a timely schedule, leaving to many things hanging in limbo.

Good luck
Tim

Thanks guys for your views on this so far.

And about those kawasaki trimmers, I think they are exactly the same and perform the same as a Redmax. If I didn't know any better I would believe they were built by the same co.
Who knows maybe they are. We will see how much they'll take and how long they will last.

Could you shed a little more light on this topic because I am sure there are many other lawn care business owners trying to figure out if they fall into this category or not. Could you give us an example?
